How to Reset Your Family Settings on an Xbox

"Family Settings" on the Xbox 360 are a great way to control what your kids watch and play on the device. From game and movie access to online play, "Family Settings" give you peace of mind because you know what your children are up to and don't have to worry. To change your "Family Settings," you must reconfigure them manually or completely turn them off, because Microsoft does not offer an easy reset option for them.

Instructions

  1. Manually Configure "Family Settings"

      Open "My Xbox" then choose "System Settings." Select "Family Settings" and then "Console Controls."

      Choose the "Family Settings" to manually configure. Options include "Game Ratings," "Video Ratings," "Xbox LIVE Access," "Xbox LIVE Membership Creation," "Restricted Content," "Family Timer" and "Set Pass Code."

      Save your changes and exit.

    Remove "Family Settings"

      Open "My Xbox" and then choose "System Settings."

      Select "Family Settings" and then "Console Controls."

      Choose "Turn Off Family Settings," then save and exit.
