Green Power Supply Light
Turn on the Xbox 360. You will see three flashing red lights surrounding the power button.
Look at the light located on the power supply brick. Continue with the following steps if it is green. If it is red or unlit, skip to the next section.
Turn off the Xbox 360.
Disconnect the power supply cord from the wall outlet. Unplug the power cord from the power supply brick. Unplug the power cord from the back of the Xbox 360 console.
Reconnect all power supply cords you just disconnected.
Turn on the Xbox 360. If there are still three flashing red lights surrounding the power button, you will have to send your console to Microsoft to be repaired. Refer to the Resources section for a link to start the repair process.
Red or Unlit Power Supply Light
Disconnect the power supply cord from the wall outlet. Unplug the power cord from the power supply brick. Unplug the power cord from the back of the Xbox 360 console.
Reconnect all power supply cords you just disconnected.
Turn on the Xbox 360.
Check the power supply light. If the light is green, refer to the section above. If the light is still red or unlit, continue with the following steps.
Turn off the Xbox 360.
Unplug the power supply from the wall outlet and back of the console. Transfer the Xbox 360 and power supply to another room with a wall outlet.
Plug the power supply into the wall outlet. Plug in the power supply to the Xbox 360.
Turn on the Xbox 360.
Check the power supply light. If the light is green, there is a problem with the original wall outlet you were using. If the power supply light is unlit, there is a problem with the power supply unit. Refer to the Resources section for a link on how to replace your faulty power supply. If the power supply light is red, continue to the next section.
Cool the Power Supply
Turn off the Xbox 360.
Disconnect the power supply cord from the wall outlet. Unplug the power cord from the power supply brick. Unplug the power cord from the back of the Xbox 360 console.
Wait about 30 minutes to an hour for the power supply to cool down.
Plug the power supply into the wall outlet. Plug in the power supply to the Xbox 360.
Turn on the Xbox 360.
Check the power supply light. If the light is still red, there is a problem with the power supply. Refer to the Resources section for a link on how to replace your faulty power supply.
