Tutorial for Adding an Xbox 360 to Your Windows XP Network

One of the more prominent features of your Xbox 360 is its ability to connect into any home network, including one running Windows XP, and instantly be able to get online on Xbox Live. Of course, in order to get started with Xbox Live, you first have to actually connect the Xbox to your network. This process is uncomplicated and can be accomplished in a matter of minutes.

  • 3 Ethernet cables

Instructions

      Turn off your Xbox 360.

      Plug one Ethernet cable into your broadband modem and the other end into the back of your router, into the port labeled either "Internet," "WAN" or "WLAN."

      Plug your router into an available power socket and wait for the "Internet"/"WAN"/"WLAN" light on the front to stop blinking.

      Plug your second Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of your computer and the other end into one of the free Ethernet ports on the back of your router.

      Repeat Step 4, replacing "Computer" with "Xbox 360."

      Turn on your Xbox 360. It will automatically detect and use the Internet connection being supplied by your router.
