How to Transfer Rock Band 1 Songs Onto a Hard Drive

Rock Band is a rhythm game franchise currently on the market for Xbox 360 as well as other game systems. The designers have always held to the belief that once someone buys one of the sequels, that should not result in losing access to songs already purchased on older versions of the game. Transferring the songs from Rock Band 1 to Rock Band 2 only requires a few steps and 400 Microsoft points.

Instructions

Ensure system requirements are met. To transfer the songs from Rock Band 1 to Rock Band 2, there needs to be enough free storage space on the Xbox 360 to hold all the songs. Power on the system and navigate to "System Settings." In the lower left corner of system settings, it will list the free space currently on the system. The number must be larger then 1.5GB for the transfer to work.

Select "Extras" from the main menu. Then select "Export Disc." Follow the onscreen instructions. The export costs 400 Microsoft points. Points can be purchased during the export process if needed using a valid credit card or Microsoft points card. Once paid, the system will download 55 songs from Rock Band 1 to the Xbox hard drive. These will automatically show when Rock Band 2 is started.
