Things You'll Need
Instructions
Verify the problem is not with your power supply. Turn the console on, and check the power supply light located on the rectangle shaped box near the electrical plug. If the light is green, turn off the console, unplug the power cord, and plug it back in. Turn on the system again. If the three red lights on the console persist, the problem is with the console itself.
Submit your repair request with Microsoft. This can be done online or over the telephone. However, for faster results, it is best to submit your request online.
Register the serial number of your console online with Microsoft if you have not already done so. Once you have done this, you can officially request a repair with Microsoft.
Start your repair request. Be sure to have your personal information at the ready, including your serial number. The process takes only a few minutes and Microsoft will then provide you with a shipping address and a confirmation number.
Package and ship your Xbox 360 to the address provided. Microsoft requires that you package and ship the 360 to them, and they will cover the return shipping. Take extra care in making sure your 360 is well protected in the package, as you do not want additional damage en route.
Track your status at the Microsoft Xbox Online Service Center. Xbox 360's suffering from the three red rings generally take anywhere from two to four weeks to be shipped back. Microsoft requires signature confirmation upon delivery of your Xbox 360, as well.
