How to Connect the Rock Band 2 Microphone to the Xbox 360

"Rock Band 2" for the Xbox 360 allows up to four players to pick up one of four instruments; guitar, bass, drums or microphone, and play some of their favorite songs. The first three instruments have buttons on them that allow them to be used as controllers when navigating the menus on the Xbox 360 and the "Rock Band 2" game. The microphone does not have any buttons, which can make it much more difficult to play the game solo with only a mic.

  Connect the Xbox 360 controller to the Xbox 360. If the controller is wireless, simply power on the controller. If the controller is wired, plug the USB adapter in to a USB port on the Xbox 360.

  Put the "Rock Band 2" game in to the game disc tray on the Xbox 360. This will simultaneously power on the Xbox 360.

  Press and hold the power button on the microphone until the lights start flashing. Press and hold the power button on the microphone again until the lights start flashing quickly. Press and then release the "Connect" button on the console.

  Use the controller to navigate through the menus and to start the game. Once you are playing "Rock Band 2" you can use the microphone to sing as normal.
