Guitars Compatible With 'Rock Band 2' for the 360

In 2007, Harmonix released "Rock Band." The game used instrument peripherals and video game software to simulate playing in a real rock band. With "Rock Band 2's" release in 2008, there were already five guitar controllers on the market for both "Rock Band" and its competitor, "Guitar Hero," with more coming out every year, making it confusing for consumers looking to purchase a controller compatible with "Rock Band 2."

Guitar Hero 2 Xplorer
- The Guitar Hero 2 Xplorer controller can be purchased either bundled with "Guitar Hero 2" or separately. To use the controller, plug the USB cord attached to the guitar controller into one of the USB ports on the front or back of the Xbox 360 console.
Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul
- The Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul controller can be purchased either bundled with "Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock" or separately. To use the controller, sync the guitar controller to the Xbox 360 system just as you would a normal Xbox 360 controller, by pressing the "Sync" button on the back of the guitar controller while pressing the "Sync" button on the front of the console.
Rock Band Stratocaster
- The Rock Band Stratocaster controller can be purchased bundled with "Rock Band" or separately. To use the Rock Band Stratocaster controller, plug the USB cord attached to the controller into one of the USB ports on the front or back of the Xbox 360 console.
Rock Band 2 Stratocaster
- The Rock Band 2 Stratocaster controller can be purchased bundled with "Rock Band 2" or separately. To use the Rock Band 2 Stratocaster controller, plug the wireless guitar receiver into one of the USB ports on the front or back of the Xbox 360 console and flip the switch on the back of the Rock Band 2 Stratocaster controller to the "ON" position.
Guitar Hero: World Tour Guitar
- The Guitar Hero: World Tour Guitar can be purchased either bundled with "Guitar Hero: World Tour" or separately. To use the controller, plug the wireless guitar receiver into one of the USB ports on the front or back of the Xbox 360 console and flip the switch on the back of the controller to the "ON" position.
Guitar Hero 5 Guitar
- The Guitar Hero 5 Guitar can be purchased either bundled with "Guitar Hero 5" or separately. To use the controller, plug the wireless guitar receiver into one of the USB ports on the front or back of the Xbox 360 console and flip the switch on the back of the Guitar Hero 5 Guitar controller to the "ON" position.
