How to Save DVDs to XBox

Xbox 360 consoles are distributed by Microsoft Corp. and are shipped with hard drives to store important player data such as game saves and downloaded content. Xbox 360 video games can be saved to the console's hard drive using the system's built-in menu or "Dashboard." Installing a DVD to your 360 will take about 30 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the Xbox 360 and wait for the Dashboard to load. Eject the disc tray and place the Xbox 360 game you want to copy to the machine's hard drive in the tray. Close the disc tray.

    • 2

Press the "Y" button on the controller and the system will display more information about the game you inserted. Select "Install Game to Hard Drive" and press "A" on the controller. The machine will begin copying the entire game disc to the hard drive.

    • 3

Wait for the file copy process to finish before attempting to use the console or play the game. You will still need to insert the original game disc to play from the hard drive, but the machine will run a lot faster and quieter without having to load the data from the DVD each time you play.
