How to Erase Your Cache on an Xbox

The Xbox 360 has several built-in features to manage its storage devices, allowing users to move data, format the hard drive and delete files. Users can also clear the cache, designated storage space for RAM, on their hard drives in order to increase processing speed. Sometimes the cache can become bogged down over time, and if your Xbox 360 seems to be running slower than normal, clearing the cache may help speed things up.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the console and go to the "Guide" menu by pressing the "Guide" button on your controller.

    • 2

Select "System Settings" from the "Settings" tab of the "Guide" menu. The menu will close and the "System Settings" window will appear.

    • 3

      Open "Memory."

    • 4

Scroll down to your "Hard Drive" then press "Y" on the controller.

    • 5

Select "Clear System Cache." A prompt will appear asking you to confirm the cache clearance.

    • 6

Select "Yes" to confirm the cache clearance.
