Wired Connection
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the "Internet" slot on the back of the modem. Plug the other end to the "Ethernet" port on the back of the router.
Plug one end of the network cable cord into the "LAN" slot on the back of the computer. Plug the other end to the first port on the router.
Turn off the Xbox 360. Connect one end of the network cable into the "Internet" port located on the back of the Xbox 360. Plug the other end into the second port on the router. Turn on the Xbox 360. Create a profile to access Xbox Live.
Wireless Connection
Turn off the Xbox 360. Snap the wireless network adapter into the I/O port located on the back of the Xbox.
Connect the wireless adapter cable into the "Internet" port located on the back of the Xbox 360. Straighten the network adapter antenna. Turn on the Xbox 360.
Wait for the wireless adapter to pick up a network connection. If you have an unsecured network, the adapter will automatically sign you in and you will be finished. However, if you have a secure network, click the "System" tab. Select "Network Settings."
Click "Edit Settings." Click the "Basic Settings" tab. Set up the wireless settings, which includes entering your network password.
Select your wireless network. The most common is WEP. Enter your network key in the appropriate box. Click the "Done" button. Click "Test Xbox Live" on the "Apply Settings" screen. If everything is configured correctly, the screen will show Xbox Live connected.
