Microsoft's Xbox 360 offers multiple types of audio/video outputs including high-definition multimedia format, otherwise referred to as HDMI. This format offers the highest quality sound and video for the console and is also the easiest to connect since it's just one cable. Gamers used to composite or component cables may be confused if they wish to set up surround sound with their console using an audio receiver, such as the Sony DG-510, because there are no split plug-ins that can go either to video or audio. Fortunately, the wiring process is as simple, if not easier, than using old fashioned composite cables.
