How to Transfer an Xbox 360 to an HDD

The Xbox 360 gaming console comes with an external hard drive so you can save your game data or downloaded content. If you have a different external hard drive that you would like to use when backing up your data, you will need the Xbox 360 transfer kit. This kit will allow you to connect your USB hard drive to the Xbox 360 and save all of your data.

Instructions

      Turn your Xbox 360 off at the power button. Leave the existing hard drive plugged into the controller port while you turn the console off.

      Unplug all of the accessories from the Xbox 360. This includes controllers and USB storage drives.

      Turn the Xbox 360 on and plug a controller into the controller port.

      Connect the transfer cable to your hard drive you want to transfer data to. Plug the USB end of the transfer cable into the USB port on the back of the Xbox 360 console.

      Press the small button on the front of the console to open the Xbox 360 DVD/game drive. Load the Transfer Kit Disc into the drive and then close the drive with the same button.

      Follow the prompts on the screen to transfer your data to your new hard drive.
