How to Take Out XBox 360Controller Screws

Taking the screws out of an Xbox 360 controller requires a size T8 torx screwdriver or a drill with a size T8 bit. Purchase these tools at your local hardware store. They should be relatively cheap. If you plan on disassembling the entire Xbox 360 controller, you will also need a small Philips head screwdriver to undo the two screws located on the back of the directional pad. Set up a work space that is clutter free to lay down the screws and other controller parts. Disassembling the Xbox 360 controller will allow you to fix, paint, clean, or otherwise modify the controller.

Remove the back of the controller by gently pulling up on it from the bottom and over the trigger buttons. Take the bottom plate off the controller. Detach the circuit board by pulling upward and using your thumbs to hold the two plastic pieces on the top and bottom of the circuit board. Strip off the rubber pieces to gain access to the last two screws located on the back of the directional pad. Use a small Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws.
