Things You'll Need
Instructions
Unplug the Xbox 360 controller from the console if you are disassembling a wired Xbox 360 controller. Disconnect the play and charge kit if one is in use. Remove your battery pack for safety precautions and to reveal the area where the screws are located.
Locate the seven screws on the back of the Xbox 360 controller for removal. Find the screws on the back of the controller, two on each side and two near the top next to the trigger buttons. Pull back the barcode label which was previously under the battery pack to gain access to the last screw. Use a size T8 torx screwdriver or a drill with a size T8 bit to remove the screws from the Xbox 360 controller.
Remove the back of the controller by gently pulling up on it from the bottom and over the trigger buttons. Take the bottom plate off the controller. Detach the circuit board by pulling upward and using your thumbs to hold the two plastic pieces on the top and bottom of the circuit board. Strip off the rubber pieces to gain access to the last two screws located on the back of the directional pad. Use a small Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws.
