How to Add Game Saves to an Xbox 360 HDD

You can save your game progress on one of three Xbox 360 portable storage devices--hard drive (HDD), memory unit or USB drive. Because of each device's portability, you can transfer data from console to console by simply attaching it to the desired Xbox 360. Once connected to the console, use the Xbox 360's built-in game data transfer features to move content from a memory unit or USB drive to the console's HDD.

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the console then insert the memory unit or USB flash drive into the Xbox 360. This is the storage device that you will be transferring game saves from to the HDD.

    • 2

Attach the HDD to your Xbox 360 if necessary.

    • 3

Power on the console, then press the silver and green "Xbox" button on the controller.

    • 4

Select the "Settings" tab by scrolling right.

    • 5

Highlight "System Settings," then press "A." This exits whatever task you were performing and sends you to the "System Settings" screen.

    • 6

Scroll down to "Memory" and push "A."

    • 7

Highlight and choose the memory unit or USB drive from the storage devices list. This directs you to a screen where you can choose which types of data you want to view or move.

    • 8

      Go to "Gamer Profiles."

    • 9

Highlight and choose the gamer profile with the game saves that you wish to move.

    • 10

Select "Move" or "Copy." Moving the file removes it off the storage device and transfers it to the HDD. Copying the file leaves a copy on the transferring device and still transfers it to the destination device.

    • 11

Choose the name of your HDD from the resulting prompt. The Xbox 360 will then transfer the gamer profile and game saves to the HDD.
