How to Set Up the Wireless Adaptor for Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 wireless adapter allows you to connect to a wireless network with your Xbox 360 system. In the Xbox 360 slim editions, the wireless adapter is not needed because it has a built in wireless card, but it is still needed on the original versions of the Xbox 360. The wireless adapter catches the wireless signal and uses it to connect you to the Internet so you can play games online, chat with friends and download games.

Wireless adapter installation disc (included with adapter)
Wireless network in-range

Instructions

  Insert the installation disc into the Xbox 360.

  Turn off the console, and then turn it back on. The disc will automatically start to update your system.

  Select ̶0;Yes, update now̶1; to install the update on your system and wait for the update to complete.

  Attach the wireless adapter to the back of the system. You must insert the adapter into the two open slots and plug the USB cable in. Also, lift the antennae into the upright position.

  Remove the disc from the system.

  Turn off the system, and turn it on again.

  Select ̶0;My Xbox̶1; and open ̶0;System Settings.̶1;

  Open the ̶0;Network Settings̶1; and choose ̶0;Configure Network.̶1;

  Choose ̶0;Wireless Mode̶1; from the ̶0;Basic Settings̶1; tab.

  Select ̶0;Scan for Networks̶1; and your console will search for all in-range wireless networks.

  Choose the wireless network that you want to connect to and enter the security information (if applicable). The security information is required if you are trying to connect to a secured network.

  Select ̶0;Done̶1; to save your network.

  Choose ̶0;Test Xbox LIVE Connection̶1; in ̶0;Network Settings̶1; to ensure you set up the connection correctly.
