How to Copy Xbox Games to My Xbox

The Xbox 360 game system allows users to install their games to their hard drive, if they have one (included in the new Xbox 360 S console, the Xbox 360 Elite, and the older Xbox 360 Pro). If you have an Xbox 360 that came without a hard drive (e.g. the Xbox 360 Arcade), you can purchase one from Microsoft's online store (see Resources). There are two reasons why you should copy your games to your Xbox if you have a hard drive: it will put less strain on your Xbox 360 disc drive, and it will put less strain on your game disc.

     Insert the game disc that you wish to copy into the Xbox game console.

     Press the "Y" button on your controller when your game displays in the "My Xbox" menu to view your game's details.

     Select the "Install to Hard Drive" option from the menu to copy your game to your Xbox 360. The installation progress will be displayed on the screen that opens up. Once the installation is complete, press "A" to continue, then press "A" again to play your game from your Xbox hard drive.
