How to Install Xbox 360 Wireless Adaptors

Microsoft sells two different versions of its popular Xbox 360 video game system. The New Xbox 360, released in 2010, includes several additional features including built-in Wi-Fi capabilities to allow gamers to connect to Xbox LIVE wirelessly. The old Xbox 360, released in 2005, did not include built-in Wi-Fi. This forced users to purchase a separate adapter, called the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter, to access the online gaming service wirelessly. The adapter installs seemlessly to any old Xbox 360 console, allowing gamers to access the Internet through their home routers.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the Xbox 360.

    • 2

Hook your adapter's USB plug-in into the Xbox 360's rear USB port. The USB port delivers power to the adapter.

    • 3

Attach your adapter to the rear of your Xbox 360 by snapping its two protruding edges into the two holes above the serial code.

    • 4

Turn on the Xbox 360 and remove any disc in the system. The console boots to the dashboard menu when the disc tray is empty.

    • 5

Scroll up to "My Xbox," scroll all the way to the right to "System Settings" and press the "A" button.

    • 6

Scroll to "Network Settings" then press "A."

    • 7

Press "A" again to open the network configuration menu.

    • 8

Press "A" again to open the "Wireless Mode" settings.

    • 9

Press "A" again to choose "Scan for Networks." The adapter will locate nearby wireless networks.

    • 10

Highlight the network you wish to connect to, then press "A." Your Xbox 360 will prompt you to enter a password if your network is password protected.

    • 11

      Enter your network's password.
