How to Get a CD Out of an Xbox

For all of the fun an Xbox offers, it can also be a headache if a compact disc, or CD, gets stuck inside the machine. To avoid taking your machine in for repairs and paying money, it's easy enough to manually eject a disc when the eject button isn't working.

Instructions

  1. Directions

    • 1

Unplug all wires connected to the console. A jolt of electricity gives you a painful shock.

    • 2

Remove the faceplate. With the unit laying horizontally, use a slotted screwdriver to pop it open.

    • 3

Use a flashlight to find a small yellow tab on the right hand side of the unit.

    • 4

Straighten out a paper clip and insert it into the small hole above the yellow tab. There are multiple holes visible when the faceplate is removed. Make sure you have the right hole identified before inserting the paper clip.

    • 5

Extend the paper clip as far into the hole as possible. The CD tray will pop out slightly.

    • 6

Pull the tray out the rest of the way with your hand and remove the CD.
