How to Stream Media Player to Xbox

Let your Xbox 360 become the ultimate entertaining station, combining gaming with the ability to watch and record video files, display digital images and listen to digital music stored via your computer on Windows Media Center 11. This is especially effective if your television screen is larger than your computer screen, making it easier to share files and content with a larger group of people at once. Up to five Xbox 360 consoles can be connected to one computer running Windows Media Center 11. To connect your Xbox 360 and Windows Media Center, a wireless or Ethernet cable connection is required between the console and the computer to a network adapter.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the computer and Xbox 360. Select "My Xbox" on the Xbox console and click "Windows Media Player."

    • 2

Follow the on-screen instructions until you are presented with an eight-digit Media Center setup key. Write down this key and keep it handy.

    • 3

Launch Windows Media Center. Click "tasks" and then select "add extender" from the menu. Complete the brief set of on-screen instructions until asked for the setup key.

    • 4

Enter the eight-digit Media Center key from the Xbox 360 when prompted, and complete the short extender setup.

    • 5

Check that your computer's firewall settings are configured to allow Xbox 360 to connect to the computer from which you are running Windows Media Player. Once complete, the Windows Media Center interface will appear on the television connected to your Xbox 360 console.
