How to Flash 360 BIOS

Xbox 360 consoles are manufactured by Microsoft Corporation and shipped with an internal BIOS memory that can be edited via "flashing" programs from a computer. You can connect your Xbox 360 to your computer via a SATA cable to flash the BIOS. Flashing the BIOS requires that you open the Xbox 360 case. The entire process will take about 30 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect all audio-visual and power cables from the rear of the Xbox 360. Open the console by removing the outer plastic case and unscrewing the Torx size 7 metal screws.

    • 2

Disconnect the Xbox 360 DVD drive's SATA connection and connect a SATA cable from the Xbox 360 motherboard to your computer's motherboard.

    • 3

Turn on your computer and log in to your user account if necessary. Open your web browser and download JungleFlasher. As of July 2010, JungleFlasher is the only program that can flash Xbox 360 BIOS from within Windows. Older programs used MS-DOS to flash BIOS and were prone to errors. JungleFlasher is the most reliable and up-to-date program available. Install JungleFlasher on your computer and reboot.

    • 4

Once your computer has rebooted, open JungleFlasher. Select your Xbox 360 from the program's drop-down menu and click "Save BIOS to PC." The program will copy the BIOS from the Xbox 360 motherboard and save it to your computer's hard drive.

    • 5

Click "Flash BIOS to Xbox 360" in JungleFlasher and select your BIOS file from your computer. Click "OK" and the program will begin writing new BIOS memory to the Xbox 360 from your computer. Wait for the flashing process to complete then shut down your computer. After the computer is turned off, disconnect the SATA cable between the Xbox and your PC.

Return all Xbox 360 internal hardware components and SATA cables to their original positions, replace the Torx screws and close the Xbox 360 case before powering on the console.
