Things You'll Need
Instructions
Unscrew the screws underneath your Xbox 360 controller to open it up. Pop out the colored "ABXY" buttons. Wrap paper or foam rubber around the button and grasp it with the pliers. Use the drill to drill out the prongs inside each button. Keep drilling until you get to the bottom of the button and you see the outline of the "A" or whichever lettered button you are working on. Do this to all the buttons.
Cut a small slit into the side of each button with the Xacto knife. This will make room for the wire to fit through. Bend the legs of the LED together into a 90 degree angle. Use the soldering iron to solder two different colored 30 AWG wires to the LED legs. Then bend the wires in the opposite direction of the legs. Fill each button halfway with glue using the hot glue gun. Place the LED into each button and fill the buttons the rest of the way with more hot glue.
Press the Xacto knife handle into each button to level out the glue. Twist it off so it doesn't pull the glue out. This is necessary to ensure the buttons will work for game play. Twirl the wires together on each button. This will make it easier to install into the controller. Insert all the "ABXY" buttons back into the correct holes in the controller with the wires out to the back.
Look inside the controller circuit board to find the USB cable connected to the board. Connect one of your wires to the red positive lead on the resistor. Connect your second wire to the black negative lead of the resistor. Leave some slack in the wire for button movement in the controller. Dab some glue to hold wires down in place. This will ensure your lights won't short out.
Place all the rest of the controller buttons in their corresponding holes. Close up the controller, being careful no wires are being clamped. Screw the controller front and back together again. Your Xbox 360 controller is customized and ready for playing.
