Compatible Networks

• Xbox's wireless adapter contains dual-band 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz signals. This allows the adapter to be compatible with multiple wireless network types. It is compatible with 802.11b networks, network type with a maximum speed of 54 Mbps. The adapter is also compatible with the 802.11a network, a network type that encounters less interference than a 802.11b network. It is also compatible with the 802.11g network, a network type that combines the speed of the 802.11a network with the range of the 802.11b network. The newest wireless adapter is also compatible with 802.11n networks, a wireless standard with a speed of 450 Mbps.

Design

• The Xbox 360 adapter contains two clips for attaching it to the back of the Xbox 360 system. It also contains an external antenna to increase signal range. The adapter includes an attached USB cable, which provides both a connection to the Xbox 360 system and a power source for the wireless adapter.

Software

• The Xbox 360 wireless adapter is designed to work specifically with the Xbox 360 system. No software is required to connect the adapter to the system. Users simply plug the adapter into the system, select a wireless connection under the system options and enter the network information.

Users with Windows XP systems can stream their photos and music from their computer to their Xbox 360. Users with Windows XP Media Center, Windows Vista or Windows 7 can also stream videos to their Xbox 360.
