Insert the memory unit or flash drive into the slot on the Xbox 360 console.
Turn on the Xbox 360 console. The Xbox Dashboard menu will appear.
Scroll to the "My Xbox" tab of the Xbox Dashboard. This tab should be right above the default option of the Dashboard menu, but will vary based on your console settings.
Select "System Settings" from the Dashboard. Scroll to the right while "My Xbox" is highlighted. The "System Settings" option is a green button located on the far right side of the menu. The System Settings menu will appear.
Select "Memory" from the menu. A prompt of all the storage devices connected to the Xbox 360 will appear.
Select the memory unit or flash drive from which you want to copy files. Do not select the hard drive from this menu. You need to select the device with the files on it to transfer them to the Xbox 360 hard drive. A list of file types will appear.
Select the type of file you want to copy to the hard drive. For example, select video if you want to transfer a video file.
Select the file you want to copy from the file list. A menu with the options Copy, Move, and Delete will appear.
Select "Copy" from the menu. The storage device menu will appear.
Select "Hard Drive" from the storage device menu. A progress bar will appear. The file will be copied to the Xbox 360 hard drive after the progress bar completes.
