How to Tune a Car on Forza

There are two ways to tune a car in Forza Motorsports 3. You can use the Quick Upgrade option to automatically upgrade and tune your vehicle, or you can do it manually. Manual tuning gives you the edge when playing online against other players. The problem with this is that you will have to constantly adjust the settings to work with your particular car and driving style. The Quick Upgrade option is better if you want want to get your car ready to race quickly.

Instructions

  1. Tuning Manually

    • 1

Press A to start the game and select Forza 3 Motorsports. Select the "Upgrade" option and select "Tune Setup."

    • 2

Use the RB and LB buttons to navigate the menu. These will move you through the different tuning option screens. Stop when you get to the tires screen. Using the directional pad and A button, adjust the air pressure. More air pressure makes your car go faster and tires wear out less quickly. Less air pressure gives you better grip on the track, but your tires will wear faster.

    • 3

Use the RB and LB buttons again to navigate to the gearing screen. Use the directional pad and the A button to add more acceleration or more speed to each gear. The closer the bar on each gear is to the left side of the screen, the more speed that gear will have. The closer the bar is to the right side of the screen, the more acceleration the gear will have.

    • 4

Use the RB and LB buttons to navigate to the alignment screen. The bar on each alignment selection should be centered. If it is not, use the directional pad and the A button to center it.

    • 5

Use the RB and LB buttons to navigate to the springs screen. Use the directional pad to adjust the stiffness and height of your springs. The stiffer they are, the faster your car will go, but if they are too stiff, your car will spin out. Lowering your car makes it more aerodynamic, but you have the chance of bottoming out.

    • 6

Use the RB and LB buttons to navigate to the Areo screen. Use the directional pad to adjust the downforce on your car. The more downforce, the more the car stays connected to the ground, giving it better handling. The less downforce you give your car the faster it is, but it is harder to control.

    Quick Upgrade

    • 7

Press the A button to start the game and select Forza 3 Motorsports menu by using the directional pad and pressing the A button.

    • 8

Select "Upgrade" and then "Quick Upgrade" from the menus. There will be a line of letters at the top of the screen. Each letter represents a class. The lower the letter, the slower or lower performing the car class. F is the first letter and it is the slowest car. X is the fastest car or the highest performing car. As you go further in the alphabet, the faster the car becomes.

    • 9

Choose the letter that represents how fast you want your car to be by selecting it and pressing the A button.

    • 10

Press the A button and a list will be presented.

    • 11

Press the A button. This will automatically install all of the upgrade parts for that class. This will make your car stock tuned.
