Flip your Xbox 360 controller over to its underside and click on the tab to remove the battery compartment. Set the compartment aside. Unscrew all seven holding screws that hold the shell casing together. Set the screws aside.
Use the flathead screwdriver to gently pry the shell casing apart; once done, place a piece of tape over the inside of the shell that houses the colored option buttons. This helps keep the buttons in place and reduces the chance of losing them.
Select an area on the face of the controller that you’d like the rapid fire button to be placed. A common choice among gamers is to the left of the blue X button, near the right thumbstick. Drill completely through the shell once you’ve selected the button’s location.
Heat your soldering iron. In the meantime, insert the push button mechanism through the hole you drilled, then attach the plastic button to the mechanism by pressing gently down on the button until it feels firm to the touch.
Use the pliers to bend the bottom prongs of the mechanism downward. Place the prongs onto the small grayish dot between the two black thumbstick pads on the control plate. Generously apply solder to the prongs to solder them to the dot.
Allow ample time to cool (60 minutes is recommended). Re-screw the shells into place, removing the adhesive tape before fastening the first screw. Attach the battery compartment back into the backside of the controller and power up your 360 to check your work.
