HDMI Connection
Purchase a “male to male” HDMI cable. Ensure that the cable is long enough to reach between the Xbox 360 console and the computer monitor.
Turn off the Xbox 360 Console and the computer monitor.
Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the computer monitor.
Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the back of the Xbox 360. The port will be labeled as “HDMI.”
Turn on the Xbox 360 console and the computer monitor. The monitor should now display video from the Xbox 360. Some computer monitors may require additional setup to display video using an HDMI port--the user manual for the computer monitor should be consulted for further instructions if there is no video displayed.
Navigate to "System Settings" on the Xbox. Be sure to select the correct video setting for your computer monitor.
Xbox 360 VGA HD Audio Video cable
Purchase the Xbox 360 VGA HD Audio Video cable.
Turn off the Xbox 360 Console and the computer monitor.
Plug the VGA HD Audio Video cable into the AV port back of the Xbox 360. The end that connects to the Xbox is long, gray and rectangular.
Plug the VGA plug of the Xbox VGA HD Audio Video cable into the computer monitor. The VGA port on most computer monitors is blue.
Connect the red and white audio cables into the computer monitor. If the computer monitor is not equipped with audio inputs, connect the two audio cables into an audio receiver or an amplified speaker system.
Turn on the Xbox 360 console and computer monitor. The monitor should now display video from the Xbox 360. Navigate to "System Settings" on the Xbox. Be sure to select the correct video setting for your computer monitor.
Composite Video to VGA Adapter
Purchase a composite-video-to-VGA adapter.
Turn off the Xbox 360 Console and the computer monitor.
Connect the adapter to the computer monitor using a VGA cable. If the composite-to-VGA adapter did not come with a VGA cable, one must be purchased separately.
Plug the standard Xbox audio video cable’s cords into the VGA adapter. To use standard-definition, video plug in the single yellow cable. To use high-definition video, connect the blue, green and red cables to the VGA adapter.
Connect the red and white audio cords to the computer monitor. If the monitor does not have audio inputs, connect the two audio cables into an audio receiver or an amplified speaker system.
Turn on the Xbox 360 console and computer monitor. The monitor should now display video from the Xbox 360. Navigate to "System Settings" on the Xbox. Be sure to select the correct video setting for your computer monitor.
