How to Copy an Xbox 360 HD to New Drive

The Xbox 360 uses external hard drive devices (HDD) to store and access system and game files. The basic HDD for the Xbox 360 offers 20GB&'s of storage space while the largest size available for purchase is 250GB&'s of storage space. If you purchase a new HDD for your Xbox 360, it&'s possible to copy files from your original "source" drive to your new "destination" drive using a hard drive transfer kit.

Instructions

      Make sure your old HDD is attached to your Xbox 360 and power down your game system.

      Unplug and disconnect all accessories hooked up to your Xbox 360.

      Power on your Xbox 360 and one game controller.

      Connect the transfer cable to the HDD where you are going to transfer content.

      Plug the other end of the transfer cable into a USB port on the front or back of your Xbox 360.

      Place the disc included with the hard drive transfer kit into your Xbox 360&'s disc player. Follow all onscreen prompts to complete the process of copying your data to your new HDD.
