How to Rip Songs Onto an Xbox 360 Hard Drive

Microsoft&'s Xbox 360 is more than just a gaming console; it&'s a full-fledged media center capable of playing audio and movies, streaming content and connecting to the Web. Ripping songs to the Xbox 360 hard drive is a great way to back up your music library. Just be sure you have enough space available on your hard drive before trying to rip too many audio CDs.

  Turn on your Xbox 360 console with no disc in the tray.

  Press the "Eject" button and load your audio CD into the disc tray. Press the button again to close the tray. The console&'s music player will start and the CD will start to play.

  Select the "Rip CD" option from the top of the screen under the player controls by pressing the green "A" button on your controller. This will take you to the Rip CD screen. De-select any tracks you don&'t want to rip by clicking the check box beside the track number with the green "A" button.

  Click "Rip CD" again. Your Xbox 360 will rip the audio tracks to the hard drive.

  Locate the ripped tracks in the Music Player of your Xbox 360. Navigate to the Music Player from your Dashboard by using your directional pad and selecting "Music Player" with the green "A" button on your controller. The Music Player will launch, listing your ripping music tracks. Use the directional pad to navigate to the track you want to play. Select the track by pressing the green "A" button on your controller.
