How to Connect a Direct TV DVR to an Xbox 360

The Microsoft Xbox 360 can serve as a powerful contribution to your home entertainment setup. However, you may have so many devices connected to your television that you are not able to properly connect your Xbox 360 to a television. If you already have a DirecTV DVR connected to your television, you can use it as an intermediary by connecting the Xbox 360 directly to the DVR (and indirectly to the television).

RCA-to-Xbox 360 cable

Instructions

  Connect the Xbox end of your RCA-to-Xbox 360 cable to the port in the back of your Xbox 360.

  Connect the RCA ends of the cable to the RCA input ports on your DriecTV DVR.

  Connect your DVR to your television by using a standard RCA or component cable. Connect the output ports on the DVR to the input ports on the television. The cables you need for this step will come with the DVR.

  Turn your television and DVR on and change the television to the video channel for your DVR. You should now see the DVR signal on your television screen.

  Turn on your Xbox 360. Press the "Input" or "Video" button on your DirecTV remote to switch to your DVR&'s input channel. You should now see your Xbox 360&'s visual signal on your television.
