How to Use a 360 Controller for a PC

Certain PC games, particularly those that are heavily based on action like "Crysis" or the "Tomb Raider" series, can be difficult to play with a keyboard and mouse. There are several game pads available for use with PC games, but if you also have an Xbox 360 then you can purchase a wired Xbox 360 controller with PC-compatible software; this special software and can be downloaded from Microsoft&'s website. You can use this controller to play your PC game.

Instructions

      Insert the controller software into the PC and press "Install" on an install wizard that pops up, which will install all the necessary components for using your controller on the computer. You may be required to restart your computer.

      Connect the controller to the PC using one of the PC&'s USB ports. The controller will have a USB connector at the end of its wire.

      Test the controller&'s sensitivity and connectivity by clicking "Start" and then typing "joy.cpl" (without quotes) into the search bar. Press "Enter." Select the "Xbox 360 Controller" and then hit "Properties" to test your controller by moving the joystick around and pressing buttons.

      Open up a game on your PC and test the controller. You may need to adjust the controller settings (usually found in the "Options" menu of various games) for each game in order for it to work to your liking.
