Download and install the appropriate setup file for the version of your operating system from the link located in Resources. Disconnect your computer from the Internet. Press the "Start" button and go to the "Control Panel."
Select "Network and Internet Connections" from the list and choose "Network Connections" from the subsequent window. Double-click "Local Area Connection" and a window labeled "Local Area Connection Status" should appear; if it does, click "Properties." If it doesn&'t, click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then click "Properties."
Click the "General" tab and copy the settings down on a piece of paper in case you ever need to revert back to them. Click the "Use the following IP address" button and fill in the "IP Address" field with "192.168.0.1" or an IP address of your choosing. Fill in the "Subnet Mask" field with "255.255.255.0" and click the "OK" button.
Connect your Xbox 360 to your computer using the crossover cable and power on the game console. Navigate to the "System" menu and select "Network Settings." Choose "Edit Settings" and copy the settings information down on a piece of paper in case you ever need to revert back to them.
Select "IP Settings" and choose the "Manual" option. Enter "192.168.0.2" or a random IP address in the "IP Address" field and "255.255.255.0" in the "Subnet Mask" field. In the "Gateway" field, enter the same IP address you assigned to your computer earlier. Click "Done" and then "Test Media" to test the connection. The Computer connection will fail; just go to the "Media" section to set up the media connection. Follow the onscreen prompts.
