How to Make a Cool XBox Avatar

Avatars are customizable characters that represent a player in a video game, chat room or any kind of interactive site. Your avatar doesn&'t necessarily need to look like you. He or she can have any feature you want, such as elf ears, spiky hair, glasses, a mini-skirt, hot red lipstick, swimming trunks, or a mohawk. On the Xbox 360 console, you can even have your avatar dress up like one of your favorite video game characters.

  Scroll to "my Xbox" with the joystick (also called an analog stick). Scroll to the second tab, where there is an image of your current or default avatar, and press "A" to select it. Scroll down to "customize avatar" and select it.

  Press the "A" button to choose an avatar as a starting point out of the given selections. Press "X" if you would like to see more choices.

  Go to "change my features" and select "hairstyles" with the "A" button. On each screen, you must navigate to each feature with the joystick and select it with the "A" button. The feature options are hairstyles, eyes, eyebrows, ears, nose, facial features (such as freckles, dimples, and moles), chin, mouth, skin color, and body. Each feature has at least nine options, and there are 90 different hairstyles to choose from. Press the "B" button to exit the features screen.

  Move the joystick down and press the "A" button to "change my style" on the main menu screen. Move the joystick to the left, right, and down and select each option with "A" to create an outfit. There are hundreds of possible outfit combinations. Move the joystick all the way down and to the right to save a style on your Xbox hard drive.

  Scroll down to the last option, "save and exit." Select it with the "A" button.
