How to Format a USB Flash Drive on an XBox 360

USB flash drives have always been supported on the Xbox 360. Up until the Spring 2010 update, you could play media files from the USB flash drive, or copy files to and from the drive. However, the Spring 2010 update allows you to actually save game data (e.g. save files or Gamertag information) directly to the USB flash drive. Most USB flash drives are supported, but the drive must first be formatted to work with the Xbox 360. Formatting the drive will permanently erase all data currently stored on it.

Otherwise, use your Xbox LIVE profile to connect to Xbox LIVE and ensure that you have the latest update. When prompted, wait for the Xbox to restart.
