How to Copy Files to the Xbox 360 Hard Drive

Between internal memory, official hard drive, memory cards and USB flash drives, the Xbox 360 video game console has a lot of storage options. The Xbox 360 makes it easy to copy files from one device to another, including the hard drive. Game saves, media files, including music, movie and photo files, and locally created content such as game characters can be transferred. Premium content downloaded from Xbox Live such as additional game content or DRM protected files cannot be copied.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Xbox 360 off. Insert or attach the device with the information you want to copy to the Xbox 360 hard drive. Turn the Xbox 360 on.

    • 2

Scroll to the "My Xbox" menu. Select "System Settings." Select "Memory."

    • 3

Select the storage device that has the files you want to copy. Select the type of content--for example, videos--and choose the actual file that you want to copy. Select "Copy." You will be asked to select the storage device to which you want to copy the files. Select "Hard Drive."
