How to Change the Xbox Hard Drive Locking Password

The Xbox 360 allows you to save games on the drive and enables you to save other types of files such as music and Xbox Live content, according to the official Xbox 360 manual. The Xbox 360 can be locked in order to prevent access from unauthorized users by enabling Family Settings and is locked by creating a password. If you feel your password has been compromised, changing the console&'s password can ensure only you can access to specific content of your gaming console.

Instructions

  Press the "Power" button on the Xbox and highlight "My Xbox" on the screen. Tap the "A" button to select it and scroll down to "System Settings."

  Tap the "A" button over "System Settings" and press "A" to select "Family Settings." Select "Console Controls" to view the console settings.

  Type an incorrect password into the "Pass Code" field, which will present the incorrect pass code pop-up window. Press the "A" button to select "Reset pass code." Enter the answer to the pass code security question and press the "A" button on your game console.

  Enter a new password by tapping the "X" and "Y" buttons on your controller and enter the same code to confirm the new code reset.

  Create a new pass code reset question and enter the answer for it. Highlight the "Done" button on the screen and tap the "A" button to finish the reset process. Tap the "A" button when the "Save Changes?" pop-up window appears to complete the setup.
