How to Upgrade a 120GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive

Upgrading from a 120GB Xbox 360 hard drive to a 250GB model entails transferring your content from the original drive to the new one. Use the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit to facilitate the process.

Instructions

      Turn off the Xbox 360. Leave one controller connected, but remove all other accessories and USB devices from the console.

      Turn the Xbox back on.

      Insert the large end of the Hard Drive Transfer Kit's transfer cable into the new 250GB hard drive's protruding transfer port.

      Insert the Hard Drive Transfer Kit's USB plug into your Xbox 360 console's USB port (located on the back of the device).

      Insert the Hard Drive Transfer Kit's included setup CD into the console's disc tray. Follow the setup wizard's on-screen instructions to initiate the transfer for your upgrade. Wait for the transfer to complete.

      Turn off the console and then push the 120GB hard drive's release button. Lift the hard drive away from its bay.

      Insert the back of the upgraded 250GB hard drive into the back of the console's hard drive bay. Gently push the front end of the hard drive down into the port until it snaps into place.
