How to Update Call of Duty 4

Updating Call of Duty 4, also known as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, is relatively easy and requires only a solid Internet connection and a few minutes of your time. Call of Duty 4 is frequently updated to deal with glitches in the multiplayer version. In order to play online, players must download or purchase the most recent version of Call of Duty 4. The updates do not change the single player campaign. Updating Call of Duty 4 may not be necessary in some cases. For instance, Call of Duty 4 automatically updates if your computer or console is connected to Internet during the initial installation.

  Evaluate whether you need to update Call of Duty 4. In most cases, the program or operating system will notify you if updates are necessary.

  Ensure you are connected to a safe and reliable Internet connection. If the update is interrupted, the update progress will begin again. Be cautious about where you download your update from. Program Update sites may be using your update as a medium to also upload cookies, viruses and spyware. If possible scan the update using an antivirus program if the update is not coming from the program manufacturer. Viruses and other malware can be extremely disruptive to your operating system and could cause your console to stop functioning.

  Insert the Call of Duty 4 disc into your Wii, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 console. Before the full game loads, a box should pop up notifying you that an update is available and asking if you would like to update your Call of Duty 4 game. Select "Yes" and the update should be completed in just a few minutes. Restart your console to finish the update.

  Double-click "Call of Duty 4" on your desktop if you&'re playing on a computer. Once the game has loaded, click "Join Game" and a window will open notifying you that an update is available and asking if you would like to update your Call of Duty 4 game. Select "Yes" and the update should be complete in a few minutes Restart your computer to finish the update. Note: the Call of Duty 4 disc is not required to play Call of Duty 4 online for computers.
