How to Install a Hard Drive in a Xbox 360 Arcade

In order to fully appreciate the Xbox 360 experience (installing games, creating multiple profiles, etc.), many gamers opt for the "Elite" or "Pro" versions over the "Arcade." The reason for this is because the Xbox 360 Arcade does not come with a hard drive pre-installed in the system. The Xbox 360 Elite comes with a 120 GB or 250 GB hard drive and the Xbox 360 Pro comes with a 20 GB or 60 GB hard drive. If you own an Xbox 360 Arcade unit and need more storage, you can purchase and install an Xbox 360 hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your Xbox 360 Arcade unit and unplug all of the accessories and cords from it including the power cord.

    • 2

Stand the console upright and then press down on the release button (located on the top front) and remove the drive bay cover by pulling it straight up.

    • 3

Take your new hard drive and carefully position it where the cover was and then push the front of it down until it clicks into place.
