Plug the Xbox 360 headset into the port on the wireless controller. This is the round hole located on the bottom edge of the controller.
Slide the volume slider on the headset to the maximum setting. Not all headset models have a volume slider. The volume on the headset should be turned all the way up to ensure the game properly reads the player’s voice. The lead singer controls in Rock Band allow you to turn down the volume of the player voice through the television speakers.
Start a song in Rock Band. Using a wireless controller to connect to the system will automatically force that player to be the lead singer in the band.
Sing into the headset. The lyrics and pitch meters are displayed on the screen.
Blow into the Xbox 360 headset to play the percussion notes. Any small noise will work in place of blowing into the headset. These are completely optional. You will not gain or lose points for not playing these notes. Percussion notes are the circles that occasionally appear in the pitch meter.
Hold down the “Y” button on the wireless controller while playing a song. This will open a slider on the bottom of the screen for the master vocal track. Press left or right on the controller to adjust the volume of the actual vocal track of the song.
Hold down the “B” button on the wireless controller while playing a song. This is the lead singer control to open the volume slider for the vocalist. Press left or right on the controller to adjust the volume of your voice through the television speakers.
Hold down the “X” button on the wireless controller. Press left or right to adjust the headset sensitivity. Turn down the sensitivity if ambient noises in the room are being recognized by the game in place of your voice.
