How to Make a Computer Monitor Into a TV Screen for XBox

A computer monitor with a Video Graphics Array (VGA) port can be hooked up to an XBox gaming console and used as a substitute for a TV. The setup requires an Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable, which is available from computer and video game stores. The cable is equipped with the XBox multi-plug connector on one end, and a VGA plug with two audio plugs on the other. The audio plugs connect to a standard Y-adapter with a 3.5-mm jack on one end for hooking up computer speakers.

Instructions

  Connect the single multi-plug on one end of the adapter to the port on the back of the XBox game console.

  Attach the VGA plug on the other end to the port on the back of the computer monitor, then tighten the locking bolt on each side of the plug to hold the cable in place.

  Insert the two audio plugs on the end of the adapter cable into the jacks on the Y-adapter.

  Connect the plug on the end of the cord that is attached to the right computer speaker to the small jack on the Y-adapter.

  Plug the cord on the left computer speaker into the jack on the back of the right speaker.

  Plug in the power cord for the computer speakers from the DC jack on the back of the right speaker to a wall outlet.
