How to Put Music on Guitar Hero 3 for an XBox 360

The Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero III allows users to add music to the game by downloading songs from Xbox Live. Most of the songs must be purchased using Microsoft Points, but there are songs available for free. The downloaded songs do not need to be unlocked and are available to play immediately. The price to put music on Guitar Hero III depends on whether it is an individual song, track pack of three songs or a full album. A paid subscription Xbox Live Gold account is not required to purchase music from Xbox Live, but the free Xbox Live Silver account is required to access this service.

Instructions

  Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the Xbox Guide menu.

  Press the “Y” button on the controller to exit Guitar Hero III and go to the Xbox Dashboard.

  Scroll up to the “Game Marketplace” in the Dashboard menu.

  Press the “X” button to select “Browse” under the “Game Marketplace.”

  Select “Guitar Hero III” from the game list. It can be found under “G” when browsing alphabetically or under “Music” when browsing by game genre.

  Select “All Downloads” from the “Guitar Hero 3” menu. Every song available for download on the Xbox 360 will be listed. Pressing left or right on the controller will change if the list is ordered by download popularity of alphabetically.

  Select the song, track pack or album you want to download from Xbox Live. Track packs and album are a single download but contain multiple songs for Guitar Hero 3.

  Select “Download Now” from the options.

  Confirm you want to buy the song, track pack or album.

  Wait for the download to complete. Do not restart Guitar Hero 3 yet.

  Press the “B” button until you return to the Xbox Dashboard menu.

  Scroll up to the “My Xbox” section of the Dashboard.

  Press “X” to restart Guitar Hero III. This will automatically put music on the game when it is started. All the downloaded tracks will appear in the track list to play in the game.
