Things You'll Need
Instructions
Plug the wireless adapter into the back of the Xbox 360 console. The adapter can be connected to either USB port. You do not need to do this step on an Xbox 360 S console because the wireless adapter is built in.
Unplug the network cable from the console, if one is attached. The console will default to the wired connection if a network cable is inserted rather than create a wireless bridge to the network. Skip this step if you are using an Xbox 360 S console.
Turn on the Xbox 360 console. The Dashboard menu will appear.
Scroll up to the “My Xbox” section of the Dashboard.
Scroll right to the “System Settings” option under the “My Xbox” section. Select this option by pressing the “X” button on the controller.
Select “Network Settings” from the system settings menu.
Select “Configure Network.”
Select “Wireless Mode” from the first group of network settings that appear.
Select “Scan For Networks.” This will scan the area for any wireless networks close enough to create a wireless bridge to the console.
Select your wireless network from the list. This will usually be the network with the strongest connection strength, unless there are other wireless networks in very close proximity to your Xbox 360 console.
Enter the security information for your wireless network into the prompt. This information will need to be obtained from the person that set up the wireless network or directly from the wireless router.
Select “Test Xbox Live Connection.” This will verify the wireless bridge between the Xbox 360 console and network is functioning properly.
