How to Modify the XBox 360 Controller for a Charger

Most new Xbox 360 wireless controllers come with a pair of AA batteries included in the package. These batteries will power your controller for up to 40 hours of continuous use. However long that may seem, after several battery changes you may find yourself wanting something a bit more convenient and economical. If this is the case, you will want to buy a Microsoft Play and Charge kit (see Resources). The modification to your Xbox 360 controller to allow the charger installation is very minimal.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery cover from your Xbox 360 controller by pressing down on the button and pulling it off. You will not need this with the charger.

    • 2

Place your Xbox charger pack into the battery slot and push to click it in place. If your battery pack needs charging continue to step three.

    • 3

Connect the charging cable from the Play and Charge kit to the port on the front of your controller, then to a USB port on your Xbox.
