How to Reset Parental Controls on an XBox 360

One of the benefits of owning an Xbox 360 is that the console can be configured in a way that prevents children from playing games that parents would not want them to play. In the event that you do not have children but now own an Xbox 360 with the parental controls activated, you can turn them off as long as you have the proper information.

      Turn your Xbox 360 on. Select the "My Xbox" option in the Xbox 360 main menu.

      Select the "System Settings" option in the My Xbox menu.

      Select the "Family Settings" option in the System Settings menu. You will be asked to enter the parental-controls password. Do so to proceed to the Family Settings menu.

      Select "Console Controls," then select the "Turn Off Family Settings" option. This will reset the family settings on your system and eliminate the need for a password in the future.
