How to Connect an Xbox 360 to Surround Sound

The Microsoft Xbox 360, much like the other seventh-generation home gaming consoles, has the ability to transmit audio in surround sound. This means that the console can transmit sound to a collection of speakers spread around your entertainment center. In order for this to occur, the console must not only be connected to a television, but to a surround sound receiver as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the Xbox 360 end of your Xbox 360 component cable to the port on the back of your console.

    • 2

Connect the audio (red and white) ends of the component cable to the audio ports on your surround sound receiver.

    • 3

Connect the other three ends of your Xbox 360 component cable to the appropriate ports on your television console.

    • 4

Turn your Xbox 360, surround sound receiver, and television on. The audio from your Xbox 360 should be playing on your surround sound speakers, and the visual signal from the console should be seen on your television.
