How to Add HDD to XBox 360

Microsoft's Xbox 360 Arcade system is a great way to get your feet wet with next generation gaming. The Xbox 360 Arcade model features the same impressive processors in the most expensive Xbox 360 models. However, the Arcade model lacks mass saving capabilities due to the lack of an included hard disc drive (HDD). Fortunately, Microsoft sells HDD units separate from system packages. Installing your own HDD to your Xbox 360 can help increase your gaming experience by adding extra storage for the games, movies and music that you love.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the package containing the Xbox 360 HDD unit and remove the HDD.

    • 2

Locate the protective shell on the Xbox 360 Arcade system and remove it using the tabs on the lateral side. Remove the protective shell and store it somewhere in case you need it in the future.

    • 3

Attach the HDD to the Xbox 360 system in the place where the protective shell used to reside. Make sure to match up the outlet on the HDD with the port on the Xbox 360 system. Fasten them and snap the other side of the HDD into place.

    • 4

Turn on the Xbox 360 system and navigate to the system settings tab. Make sure the Xbox 360 system is recognizing your newly installed HDD.
