Things You'll Need
Instructions
Hold your game disc in one hand, with your finger through the center hole and your thumb on the edge. Avoid putting your fingers directly on the disc. This will leave fingerprints and can damage the disc.
Turn the disc upside down and rotate your wrist under a lamp or direct light to view the condition of the disc. Look for scratches and other debris.
Use a dry watercolor paint brush to dust the surface of the disc. This will remove any dust or debris that is there.
Use a polishing cloth or an old T-shirt to clean the disc. To polish, start at the center of the disc and pull the cloth straight outward toward the edge, similar to the motion you would use to draw the rays of the sun. Do this all around the disc. Avoid circular motions, which could cause damage to the disc.
Spray a cleaner on the cloth you are using. Choose either an eyeglass cleaner or a CD cleaner, which can be purchased at electronics stores. Use the same motion you used in the prior step to apply the cleaner to the disc. Allow the cleaner to completely dry.
Try your disc in your game console. If it still does not work, visit your local game store. These stores usually have a game cleaning system that also treats scratches.
