Step by Step Instructions for Installing an Xbox 360 Network Adapter

The Xbox 360 comes with wired Internet capability "out of the box"--meaning that it is set up to take advantage of any wired Ethernet connection from the moment it is first turned on--and this is usually enough for the basic Xbox 360 owner. Some owners, however, prefer the freedom of location offered by wireless connections. To cater to these owners, Microsoft has developed the Wireless N adapter for the Xbox 360. Setting up the adapter is relatively simple thanks to a streamlined interface.

  Open the Xbox 360 CD tray and insert the Wireless N Installation disk, then close the tray.

  Turn off the Xbox 360, then turn it back on. The update utility should start automatically on reboot.

  Select "Yes, update now" when asked if you wish to install the new software.

  Unplug any Ethernet cables connected to the Xbox 360.

  Wait until the installation is finished, then plug the Wireless N adapter into the USB port at the back of the Xbox 360.

  Remove the install CD from the Xbox 360's CD drive and restart the Xbox.
