Xbox Wireless Controller Instructions

The Xbox 360 controller is slightly smaller than the controller of its predecessor, the Xbox. The black and white buttons from the previous console have been replaced by shoulder buttons, "LB" and "RB." There are two varieties of Xbox 360 controllers: wired and wireless. Using both varieties of controllers is very easy, but connecting the wireless controller to your system takes an extra step.

Instructions

  1. Syncing Up the Controller

    • 1
The wireless Xbox 360 controller uses two AA batteries.

Insert two double A (AA) batteries into the wireless controller's battery pack. This small plastic pack can be found on the back of the controller and can be removed by pressing a tiny button at the top. Once the batteries are inserted, snap the pack back into place.

    • 2

Hold down the "Xbox Guide" button on your controller. This is the large round button imprinted with the Xbox logo in the middle of the controller. When a green ring of light lights up around the button, release it.

    • 3

Power on your Xbox 360 console by pressing the power button. Green lights should light up around the power button and the drives inside should start whirring.

    • 4

Press the "Connect" button on the Xbox 360. This is a very small button, about half the size of a dime, with three tiny arrows on it. It is located next to "Memory Slot B." Once pressed, the green rings around the console's power button should begin flashing.

    • 5

Press and release the "Connect" button on the wireless controller. The button looks identical to the one on the console from Step 4 and is located at the top of the controller near the "LB" button. The ring of lights on the controller should flash and within a few seconds it will be synced up with your Xbox 360 console.
