How to Copy Music to an Xbox Hard Drive

You can copy music to your Xbox hard drive and listen to it through your TV set. You can also listen to music you copied to the Xbox in the background as a soundtrack to your video games. Unfortunately, Xbox will not allow you to copy music from an MP3 player. If you want to copy music saved on your portable audio device, you will have to plug the device to your computer and extract the songs to a CD.

  Power on your Xbox and TV set.

  Insert your audio CD into the Xbox disc tray. The console will automatically begin to play the CD. Press the "B" button on your Xbox remote to go to the "Audio CD" screen.

  Navigate to "Copy" on your Audio CD screen with your Xbox remote. All songs saved on your CD will be listed.

  Navigate up and down the list of songs saved on your CD until you find a song you want to copy. Select it with the "A" button on your controller. You can select just a few songs or all songs on your CD.

  Navigate and select "Copy" once you have finished selecting the songs you want to copy to your Xbox.

  Press the "A" button to view the "Choose Soundtrack" screen. Move up and down this screen to add your songs to an existing soundtrack or to create a new soundtrack. If selecting a new soundtrack, enter the name of your soundtrack with the onscreen keyboard when prompted, select "Done" and press the "A" button. Wait for the Xbox to finish copying your CD before you eject it.
